rsync before 3.5.2 contains a denial of service vulnerability in the delta-transfer sender's hash_search() in match.c that allows malicious receivers to trigger unbounded strong-checksum work at consecutive offsets. Unauthenticated attackers pulling from a public daemon module can supply weak checksums colliding with consecutive rolling windows plus non-matching strong checksums, exhausting sender CPU across concurrent connections.

There are packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability referenced in the following CVE:

  - rsync before 3.5.2 contains a denial of service vulnerability in the delta-transfer sender's hash_search()

The version of rsync installed on the remote host is prior to 3.5.2. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the SSA:2026-308-01 advisory.

    New rsync packages are available for Slackware 15.0 and -current to fix security issues.
