CentOS 7 : kernel (RHSA-2022:7337)

high Nessus Plugin ID 208564

Synopsis

The remote CentOS Linux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The remote CentOS Linux 7 host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the RHSA-2022:7337 advisory.

- Mis-trained branch predictions for return instructions may allow arbitrary speculative code execution under certain microarchitecture-dependent conditions. (CVE-2022-29900)

- It was discovered that the cls_route filter implementation in the Linux kernel would not remove an old filter from the hashtable before freeing it if its handle had the value 0. (CVE-2022-2588)

- Rejected reason: DO NOT USE THIS CANDIDATE NUMBER. ConsultIDs: none. Reason: This candidate is unused by its CNA. Notes: none. (CVE-2022-23816)

- Aliases in the branch predictor may cause some AMD processors to predict the wrong branch type potentially leading to information disclosure. (CVE-2022-23825)

- Non-transparent sharing of return predictor targets between contexts in some Intel(R) Processors may allow an authorized user to potentially enable information disclosure via local access. (CVE-2022-26373)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages.
