New! Vulnerability Priority Rating (VPR)
Tenable calculates a dynamic VPR for every vulnerability. VPR combines vulnerability information with threat intelligence and machine learning algorithms to predict which vulnerabilities are most likely to be exploited in attacks. Read more about what VPR is and how it's different from CVSS.
VPR Score: 1.4
Synopsis
The remote DNS / DHCP service is affected by DoS vulnerability
Description
The version of dnsmasq installed on the remote host is prior to 2.81. It is, therefore, affected by a denial of service (DoS) vulnerability in 'helper.c' due to a memory leak. An unauthenticated, remote attacker can exploit this issue, to cause the application to stop responding.
Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.
Solution
Upgrade to dnsmasq 2.81 or later.
