New! CVE Severity Now Using CVSS v3

The calculated severity for CVEs has been updated to use CVSS v3 by default. CVEs that do not have a CVSS v3 score will fall back CVSS v2 for calculating severity. Severity display preferences can be toggled in the settings dropdown.

Description

A vulnerability has been identified in Capital VSTAR (Versions including affected DNS modules), Nucleus NET (All versions < V5.2), Nucleus Source Code (Versions including affected DNS modules). The DNS domain name label parsing functionality does not properly validate the names in DNS-responses. The parsing of malformed responses could result in a write past the end of an allocated structure. An attacker with a privileged position in the network could leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of the current process or cause a denial-of-service condition.
