In ImageMagick 7.0.8-13 Q16, there is a heap-based buffer over-read in the EncodeImage function of coders/pict.c, which allows attackers to cause a denial of service via a crafted SVG image file.

The remote Ubuntu 14.04 LTS host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the USN-6980-1 advisory.

    It was discovered that ImageMagick incorrectly handled certain malformed image files. If a user or     automated system using ImageMagick were tricked into opening a specially crafted image, an attacker could     exploit this to cause a denial of service or possibly execute code with the privileges of the user     invoking the program.

Several security vulnerabilities were found in Imagemagick. Various memory handling problems and cases of missing or incomplete input sanitizing may result in denial of service, memory or CPU exhaustion, information disclosure or potentially the execution of arbitrary code when a malformed image file is processed.

For Debian 9 stretch, these problems have been fixed in version 8:6.9.7.4+dfsg-11+deb9u10.
