Gallery 2.2.3 addresses the following security vulnerabilities :

- Unauthorized renaming of items possible with WebDAV (reported by Merrick Manalastas)

- Unauthorized modification and retrieval of item properties possible with WebDAV

- Unauthorized locking and replacing of items possible with WebDAV

- Unauthorized editing of data file possible via linked items with Reupload and WebDAV (reported by Nicklous Roberts)

Nicklous Roberts discovered that the Reupload module of Gallery 2, a web-based photo management application, allowed unauthorized users to edit Gallery's data file.

The oldstable distribution (sarge) does not contain a gallery2 package. The previous gallery package is not affected by this vulnerability.

The remote host is affected by the vulnerability described in GLSA-200711-03 (Gallery: Multiple vulnerabilities)

    Merrick Manalastas and Nicklous Roberts have discovered multiple     vulnerabilities in the WebDAV and Reupload modules.
  Impact :

    A remote attacker could exploit these vulnerabilities to bypass     security restrictions and rename, replace and change properties of     items, or edit item data using WebDAV.
  Workaround :

    There is no known workaround at this time.

The remote host is running Gallery, a web-based photo album application written in PHP.  The version of Gallery installed on the remote host is lower than 2.2.3.  The vendor has reported multiple security flaws in this version.  It is alleged that a remote attacker can use these flaws to replace and/or modify program files.
