Atlassian Jira 8.1.x < 8.1.3 Template Injection Vulnerability

high Web App Scanning Plugin ID 98722

Synopsis

Atlassian Jira 8.1.x < 8.1.3 Template Injection Vulnerability

Description

According to its self-reported version number, the Atlassian Jira application running on the remote host is 7.0.10 < 7.6.16, 7.7.x < 7.13.8, 8.1.x < 8.1.3, 8.2.x < 8.2.5, 8.3.x < 8.3.4, 8.4.x < 8.4.1. It is, therefore, affected by a server-side template injection vulnerability that exists in the Jira Importers Plugin (JIM). An attacker with "Jira Administrators" access may exploit this to execute arbitrary code.

Note that the scanner has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Atlassian Jira version 8.1.3 or later.
