AngularJS >= 1.3.0 Regular Expression Denial of Service

high Web App Scanning Plugin ID 115732

Synopsis

AngularJS >= 1.3.0 Regular Expression Denial of Service

Description

According to its self-reported version number, AngularJS is at least 1.3.0. Therefore, it may be affected by a Regular Expression Denial of Service (ReDoS) vulnerability through the regular expression used to split the value of the ng-srcset directive. With large carefully-crafted input, this can result in catastrophic backtracking and cause a denial of service. AngularJS is End-of-Life and will not receive any updates to address this issue.

Note that the scanner has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

AngularJS is End-of-Life and no fix is available. Migrate to Angular (@angular/core).
