Synopsis

Zabbix 6.0.x < 6.0.41 Incorrect Authorization

Description

According to its self-reported version number, the version of Zabbix running on the remote host is 6.0.x prior to 6.0.41, or 7.0.x prior to 7.0.18, or 7.4.x prior to 7.4.2. It is, therefore, affected by an incorrect authorization vulnerability in the configuration.import API.

An authenticated user with the User role and template/host write permissions is able to create objects via the configuration.import API, leading to a confidentiality loss by creating unauthorized hosts. Note that the User role is normally not sufficient to create and edit templates or hosts, even with write permissions.

Note that the scanner has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Zabbix version 6.0.41 or later.
