WordPress 5.2.x < 5.2.26 Remote Code Execution

high Web App Scanning Plugin ID 115400

Synopsis

WordPress 5.2.x < 5.2.26 Remote Code Execution

Description

According to its self-reported version number, the version of WordPress installed on the remote host is affected by a remote code execution vulnerability via a malicious Postscript file upload by an Author level user or higher. Exploitation requires that Imagick and Ghostscript are in use on the server, as the weakness lies in Ghostscript's handling of certain embedded files, and that the attacker has the upload_files capability. (CVE-2026-65640)

Note that the scanner has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to WordPress version 5.2.26 or later.
