Synopsis

RequireJS < 2.3.7 Prototype Pollution

Description

According to its self-reported version number, RequireJS is prior to 2.3.7. It is, therefore, affected by a prototype pollution vulnerability in the s.contexts._.configure function. An attacker can inject arbitrary properties through a crafted configuration object containing a __proto__ property, which may lead to denial of service, remote code execution, or cross-site scripting depending on the available gadgets. (CVE-2024-38999)

Note that the scanner has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to RequireJS version 2.3.7 or later.
