Drupal 10.5.x < 10.5.9 Multiple Vulnerabilities

critical Web App Scanning Plugin ID 115225

Synopsis

Drupal 10.5.x < 10.5.9 Multiple Vulnerabilities

Description

According to its self-reported version number, the detected Drupal application is affected by multiple vulnerabilities:

- Drupal core's jQuery integration for AJAX modal dialog boxes does not sufficiently sanitize certain options, which can lead to a Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability.

- Drupal core contains a chain of methods that is exploitable when an insecure deserialization vulnerability exists on the site. This "gadget chain" can be used to achieve remote code execution or SQL injection if the application deserializes untrusted data due to another vulnerability.

- Drupal 11.3 includes support for completing entity suggestions when adding a link to CKEditor 5. These suggestions are not sufficiently sanitized, allowing a malicious user to trigger a stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) attack against other users.

Note that the scanner has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update to Drupal version 10.5.9 or latest.
