Atlassian Jira < 8.8.0 Multiple Vulnerabilities

high Web App Scanning Plugin ID 113706

Synopsis

Atlassian Jira < 8.8.0 Multiple Vulnerabilities

Description

According to its self-reported version number, the instance of Atlassian Jira hosted on the remote web server is prior to 8.8.0. It is, therefore, affected by multiple vulnerabilities:

- A vulnerability which permits remote attackers to inject arbitrary HTML or JavaScript via a cross site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the Add Field module which may allow remote attackers to access sensitive information without being authenticated in the Global permissions screen.

- A vulnerability which permits remote attackers to prevent users from accessing the instance via an Application Denial Of Service (DOS) vulnerability in the /rendering/wiki endpoint.

Note that the scanner has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Atlassian Jira version 8.8.0 or later.
