Atlassian Confluence 6.2.4 < 6.4.0 Editinword Resource Cross-Site Scripting

medium Web App Scanning Plugin ID 113653

Synopsis

Atlassian Confluence 6.2.4 < 6.4.0 Editinword Resource Cross-Site Scripting

Description

According to its self-reported version number, the Atlassian Confluence application running on the remote host is prior to version 6.4.0. It is, therefore, affected by a flaw in the editinword resource which may permit remote attackers to inject arbitrary HTML or JavaScript via a cross site scripting (XSS) vulnerability through the contents of an uploaded file.

Note that the scanner has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Atlassian Confluence version 6.4.0 or later.
