high Nessus Plugin ID 99668
New! Plugin Severity Now Using CVSS v3

The calculated severity for Plugins has been updated to use CVSS v3 by default. Plugins that do not have a CVSS v3 score will fall back to CVSS v2 for calculating severity. Severity display preferences can be toggled in the settings dropdown.

Synopsis

The remote device is missing a vendor-supplied security patch.

Description

According to its self-reported version and configuration, the Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) software running on the remote device is affected by a denial of service vulnerability in the Internet Key Exchange Version 1 (IKEv1) XAUTH code due to improper validation of the IKEv1 XAUTH parameters passed during an IKEv1 negotiation. An authenticated, remote attacker can exploit this, via specially crafted parameters, to cause the device to reload.

Solution

Upgrade to the relevant fixed version referenced in Cisco security advisory cisco-sa-20170419-asa-xauth.
