Critical Nessus Plugin ID 83247

New! Vulnerability Priority Rating (VPR)

Tenable calculates a dynamic VPR for every vulnerability. VPR combines vulnerability information with threat intelligence and machine learning algorithms to predict which vulnerabilities are most likely to be exploited in attacks. Read more about what VPR is and how it's different from CVSS.

VPR Score: 5.9

Synopsis

The remote Mandriva Linux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

Updated directfb packages fix security vulnerabilities :

Multiple integer signedness errors in the Dispatch_Write function in proxy/dispatcher/idirectfbsurface_dispatcher.c in DirectFB allow remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) and possibly execute arbitrary code via the Voodoo interface, which triggers a stack-based buffer overflow (CVE-2014-2977).

The Dispatch_Write function in proxy/dispatcher/idirectfbsurface_dispatcher.c in DirectFB allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) and possibly execute arbitrary code via the Voodoo interface, which triggers an out-of-bounds write (CVE-2014-2978).

Solution

Update the affected packages.
