New! Vulnerability Priority Rating (VPR)
Tenable calculates a dynamic VPR for every vulnerability. VPR combines vulnerability information with threat intelligence and machine learning algorithms to predict which vulnerabilities are most likely to be exploited in attacks. Read more about what VPR is and how it's different from CVSS.

SynopsisThe remote name server is affected by a denial of service vulnerability.
DescriptionAccording to its self-reported version number, the remote installation of BIND is potentially affected by a denial of service vulnerability due to an error relating to DNSSEC validation and the managed-keys feature. A remote attacker can trigger an incorrect trust-anchor management scenario in which no key is ready for use, resulting in an assertion failure and daemon crash.
Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.
SolutionUpgrade to BIND version 9.10.1-P2 or later.
Alternatively, as a workaround, do not use 'auto' for the dnssec-validation or dnssec-lookaside options and do not configure a managed-keys statement.
