AlmaLinux 9.6 [TuxCare] Security Update: gimp / gimp-devel / gimp-devel-tools / gimp-libs (ALMALINUX9.6:CLSA-2026:1793718255)

high Nessus Plugin ID 375519

Synopsis

The AlmaLinux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The AlmaLinux 9.6 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the TuxCare ALMALINUX9.6:CLSA-2026:1793718255 advisory.

- A heap-based buffer overflow was found in GIMP's DirectDraw Surface (DDS) loader. When loading a crafted DDS image, buffer sizes derived from width, height, and pitch can be computed using 32-bit arithmetic that overflows. The allocated buffer is too small for the amount of pixel data written through GEGL, following integer overflow in size calculations. This may allow heap corruption and, in the worst case, arbitrary code execution in the context of the GIMP process. (CVE-2026-106062)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages based on the guidance in TuxCare advisory ALMALINUX9.6:CLSA-2026:1793718255.
