AlmaLinux 9.2 [TuxCare] Security Update: ImageMagick / ImageMagick-c++ / ImageMagick-c++-devel / etc Multiple Vulnerabilities (ALMALINUX9.2:CLSA-2026:1793191614)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 373064

Synopsis

The AlmaLinux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The AlmaLinux 9.2 host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the TuxCare ALMALINUX9.2:CLSA-2026:1793191614 advisory.

- ImageMagick versions before 7.1.2-32 and 6.9.13-57 contain uninitialized heap memory disclosure in the GIF decoder's application extension handler in coders/gif.c. Attackers can craft malicious GIF files that cause the number parser to read uninitialized heap memory and store contents as image metadata, disclosing sensitive heap information. (CVE-2026-102635)

- ImageMagick before 6.9.13-58 and 7.x before 7.1.2-33 does not properly account for symbolic links in the IsRightsAuthorizedByName security policy check, allowing configured policy restrictions to be bypassed.
Local attackers who can create a symlink can point it at a policy-restricted path to evade the configured policy. (CVE-2026-105081)

- ImageMagick before 7.1.2-32 and 6.9.13-57 contains a policy bypass vulnerability in LoadPolicyCache that silently skips security policy rules when policy.xml uses an alternate DOCTYPE. A valid DOCTYPE not ending in ']>' makes the parser consume the rest of the file, so no policy rules are applied and restricted operations become allowed. (CVE-2026-105083)

- ImageMagick is free and open-source software used for editing and manipulating digital images. Prior to 7.1.2-32, an unauthenticated adjacent-network client can repeatedly connect to the distributed pixel cache server and exhaust its available connections, causing denial of service. This issue is fixed in version 7.1.2-32. (CVE-2026-106570)

- ImageMagick is free and open-source software used for editing and manipulating digital images. In versions prior to 7.1.2-26he, the `-concatenate` operation is missing policy checks, potentially resulting in both reading and writing to paths disallowed by the security policy. This issue has been fixed in version 7.1.2-26. (CVE-2026-55628)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages based on the guidance in TuxCare advisory ALMALINUX9.2:CLSA-2026:1793191614.
