FreeBSD : miniupnpd -- Integer underflow in SOAPAction header parsing (43dc274d-f74b-4420-8ef8-d2e108213002)

high Nessus Plugin ID 366760

Synopsis

The remote FreeBSD host is missing one or more security-related updates.

Description

The version of FreeBSD installed on the remote host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the 43dc274d-f74b-4420-8ef8-d2e108213002 advisory.

An integer underflow in the SOAPAction header parsing in ParseHttpHeaders() lets a remote attacker trigger an out-of-bounds read by sending a malformed SOAPAction header containing a single quote. This can crash miniupnpd or disclose memory beyond the HTTP request buffer.

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the FreeBSD security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages.
