Synopsis

Fortinet FortiMail is missing one or more security-related updates.

Description

The version of FortiMail installed on the remote host is affected by a path traversal vulnerability as referenced in the FG-IR-26-175 advisory.

- An improper limitation of a pathname to a restricted directory ('Path Traversal') combined with an improper neutralization of NULL byte or NULL character vulnerability in FortiMail may allow an unauthenticated attacker to write arbitrary files on the underlying system via crafted HTTP or HTTPS requests.

Solution

For 7.2.x, upgrade to FortiMail version 7.4.9 or later. For 7.4.x, upgrade to FortiMail version 7.4.9 or later.
For 7.6.x, upgrade to FortiMail version 7.6.7 or later. For 8.0.x, upgrade to FortiMail version 8.0.2 or later.
