Synopsis

The CentOS Linux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The CentOS Linux 8.4 host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the TuxCare CENTOS8.4:CLSA-2025:1753297988 advisory.

- In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mptcp: fix race on unaccepted mptcp sockets When the listener socket owning the relevant request is closed, it frees the unaccepted subflows and that causes later deletion of the paired MPTCP sockets. The mptcp socket's worker can run in the time interval between such delete operations. When that happens, any access to msk->first will cause an UaF access, as the subflow cleanup did not cleared such field in the mptcp socket. Address the issue explicitly traversing the listener socket accept queue at close time and performing the needed cleanup on the pending msk. Note that the locking is a bit tricky, as we need to acquire the msk socket lock, while still owning the subflow socket one. (CVE-2022-49669)

- In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tty: n_gsm: add sanity check for gsm->receive in gsm_receive_buf() A null pointer dereference can happen when attempting to access the gsm->receive() function in gsmld_receive_buf(). Currently, the code assumes that gsm->recieve is only called after MUX activation. Since the gsmld_receive_buf() function can be accessed without the need to initialize the MUX, the gsm->receive() function will not be set and a NULL pointer dereference will occur.
Fix this by avoiding the call to gsm->receive() in case the function is not initialized by adding a sanity check. Call Trace: <TASK> gsmld_receive_buf+0x1c2/0x2f0 drivers/tty/n_gsm.c:2861 tiocsti drivers/tty/tty_io.c:2293 [inline] tty_ioctl+0xa75/0x15d0 drivers/tty/tty_io.c:2692 vfs_ioctl fs/ioctl.c:51 [inline] __do_sys_ioctl fs/ioctl.c:870 [inline] __se_sys_ioctl fs/ioctl.c:856 [inline]

- In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amd/display: clear optc underflow before turn off odm clock [Why] After ODM clock off, optc underflow bit will be kept there always and clear not work. We need to clear that before clock off. [How] Clear that if have when clock off.
(CVE-2022-49969)

- In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: atlantic: fix aq_vec index out of range error The final update statement of the for loop exceeds the array range, the dereference of self->aq_vec[i] is not checked and then leads to the index out of range error. Also fixed this kind of coding style in other for loop. - In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: NFSv4/pnfs: Fix a use-after-free bug in open If someone cancels the open RPC call, then we must not try to free either the open slot or the layoutget operation arguments, since they are likely still in use by the hung RPC call. (CVE-2022-50072)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages based on the guidance in TuxCare advisory CENTOS8.4:CLSA-2025:1753297988.
