AlmaLinux 9.6 [TuxCare] Security Update: libssh / libssh-config / libssh-devel (ALMALINUX9.6:CLSA-2026:1776178207)

low Nessus Plugin ID 360807

Synopsis

The AlmaLinux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The AlmaLinux 9.6 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the TuxCare ALMALINUX9.6:CLSA-2026:1776178207 advisory.

- A flaw was found in libssh in which a malicious SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol) server can exploit this by sending a malformed 'longname' field within an `SSH_FXP_NAME` message during a file listing operation.
This missing null check can lead to reading beyond allocated memory on the heap. This can cause unexpected behavior or lead to a denial of service (DoS) due to application crashes. (CVE-2026-0968)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages based on the guidance in TuxCare advisory ALMALINUX9.6:CLSA-2026:1776178207.
