AlmaLinux 9.2 [TuxCare] Security Update: corosync / corosync-vqsim / corosynclib / corosynclib-devel (ALMALINUX9.2:CLSA-2026:1790352190)

high Nessus Plugin ID 360111

Synopsis

The AlmaLinux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The AlmaLinux 9.2 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the TuxCare ALMALINUX9.2:CLSA-2026:1790352190 advisory.

- A heap-based buffer overflow was found in Corosync's Totem Process Group (totempg) message reassembly.
When processing fragmented multicast messages, the buffer used to reassemble fragments lacks a runtime bounds check in release builds. A network-adjacent attacker able to send crafted multicast protocol messages to the cluster could cause a heap buffer overflow with attacker-controlled data. This can crash the Corosync daemon, causing a denial of service to the entire cluster, and may potentially allow further exploitation given sufficient heap-corruption control. (CVE-2026-81665)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages based on the guidance in TuxCare advisory ALMALINUX9.2:CLSA-2026:1790352190.
