AlmaLinux 9.2 [TuxCare] Security Update: tpm2-tools (ALMALINUX9.2:CLSA-2025:1764614196)

high Nessus Plugin ID 359990

Synopsis

The AlmaLinux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The AlmaLinux 9.2 host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the TuxCare ALMALINUX9.2:CLSA-2025:1764614196 advisory.

- tpm2 is the source repository for the Trusted Platform Module (TPM2.0) tools. This vulnerability allows attackers to manipulate tpm2_checkquote outputs by altering the TPML_PCR_SELECTION in the PCR input file.
As a result, digest values are incorrectly mapped to PCR slots and banks, providing a misleading picture of the TPM state. This issue has been patched in version 5.7. (CVE-2024-29039)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected tpm2-tools package based on the guidance in TuxCare advisory ALMALINUX9.2:CLSA-2025:1764614196.
