FreeBSD : FreeBSD -- Multiple jail filesystem root escapes (1fe3495b-bccd-11f1-906f-bc241121aa0a)

high Nessus Plugin ID 353461

Synopsis

The remote FreeBSD host is missing one or more security-related updates.

Description

The version of FreeBSD installed on the remote host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the 1fe3495b-bccd-11f1-906f-bc241121aa0a advisory.

Three flaws allow a jailed process to bypass FD_RESOLVE_BENEATH:
A process in a jail that has received a directory file descriptor from another jail can use these techniques to escape the jail's filesystem root restriction.

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the FreeBSD security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages.
