AlmaLinux 9.2 [TuxCare] Security Update: iperf3 / iperf3-devel (ALMALINUX9.2:CLSA-2026:1779373661)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 353022

Synopsis

The AlmaLinux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The AlmaLinux 9.2 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the TuxCare ALMALINUX9.2:CLSA-2026:1779373661 advisory.

- iPerf3 before 3.17, when used with OpenSSL before 3.2.0 as a server with RSA authentication, allows a timing side channel in RSA decryption operations. This side channel could be sufficient for an attacker to recover credential plaintext. It requires the attacker to send a large number of messages for decryption, as described in Everlasting ROBOT: the Marvin Attack by Hubert Kario. (CVE-2024-26306)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages based on the guidance in TuxCare advisory ALMALINUX9.2:CLSA-2026:1779373661.
