AlmaLinux 9.2 [TuxCare] Security Update: ImageMagick / ImageMagick-c++ / ImageMagick-c++-devel / etc Multiple Vulnerabilities (ALMALINUX9.2:CLSA-2026:1784298569)

critical Nessus Plugin ID 352575

Synopsis

The AlmaLinux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The AlmaLinux 9.2 host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the TuxCare ALMALINUX9.2:CLSA-2026:1784298569 advisory.

- ImageMagick is free and open-source software used for editing and manipulating digital images. Versions prior to 7.1.2-13 have a stack overflow via infinite recursion in MSL (Magick Scripting Language) `<write>` command when writing to MSL format. Version 7.1.2-13 fixes the issue. (CVE-2026-23874)

- ImageMagick is free and open-source software used for editing and manipulating digital images. Prior to versions 7.1.2-16, an integer overflow vulnerability exists in the SIXEL decoer. The vulnerability allows an attacker to perform an out of bounds via a specially crafted image. This vulnerability is fixed in 7.1.2-16. (CVE-2026-28493)

- ImageMagick is free and open-source software used for editing and manipulating digital images. Prior to versions 6.9.13-50 and 7.1.2-25, when an allocation fails in CheckPrimitiveExtent this can result in a heap-use-after-free and result in a crash. This issue has been patched in versions 6.9.13-50 and 7.1.2-25.
(CVE-2026-53462)

- ImageMagick before 7.1.2-15 and 6.9.13-40 contains a command injection vulnerability in the SVG decoder that allows attackers to inject arbitrary MVG drawing commands. Attackers can craft malicious SVG files with injected Magick Vector Graphics commands that execute during rendering. (CVE-2026-56379)

- ImageMagick before 7.1.2-26 contains a memory leak vulnerability in the JNG encoder when a blob cannot be opened. Attackers can trigger the memory leak by providing malformed JNG files that fail blob operations, causing resource exhaustion. (CVE-2026-61866)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages based on the guidance in TuxCare advisory ALMALINUX9.2:CLSA-2026:1784298569.
