AlmaLinux 9.2 [TuxCare] Security Update: sudo / sudo-devel / sudo-python-plugin (ALMALINUX9.2:CLSA-2024:1709547826)

high Nessus Plugin ID 352222

Synopsis

The AlmaLinux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The AlmaLinux 9.2 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the TuxCare ALMALINUX9.2:CLSA-2024:1709547826 advisory.

- Sudo before 1.9.15 might allow row hammer attacks (for authentication bypass or privilege escalation) because application logic sometimes is based on not equaling an error value (instead of equaling a success value), and because the values do not resist flips of a single bit. (CVE-2023-42465)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages based on the guidance in TuxCare advisory ALMALINUX9.2:CLSA-2024:1709547826.
