AlmaLinux 9.2 [TuxCare] Security Update: libmicrohttpd / libmicrohttpd-devel / libmicrohttpd-doc (ALMALINUX9.2:CLSA-2025:1760026053)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 352041

Synopsis

The AlmaLinux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The AlmaLinux 9.2 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the TuxCare ALMALINUX9.2:CLSA-2025:1760026053 advisory.

- GNU libmicrohttpd before 0.9.76 allows remote DoS (Denial of Service) due to improper parsing of a multipart/form-data boundary in the postprocessor.c MHD_create_post_processor() method. This allows an attacker to remotely send a malicious HTTP POST packet that includes one or more '\0' bytes in a multipart/form-data boundary field, which - assuming a specific heap layout - will result in an out-of- bounds read and a crash in the find_boundary() function. (CVE-2023-27371)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages based on the guidance in TuxCare advisory ALMALINUX9.2:CLSA-2025:1760026053.
