FreeBSD : RusTLS FFI -- plaintext TLS handshake vulnerability (ff969b25-b97b-11f1-b09d-8447094a420f)

high Nessus Plugin ID 350788

Synopsis

The remote FreeBSD host is missing one or more security-related updates.

Description

The version of FreeBSD installed on the remote host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ff969b25-b97b-11f1-b09d-8447094a420f advisory.

The RusTLS project reports:
TLS 1.3 handshake message processing could allow a broken peer to send plaintext handshake messages where an encrypted one is expected without rustls rejecting the connection

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the FreeBSD security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages.
