FreeBSD : immich -- open redirect and reflected XSS in maintenance endpoint (fcc6baaa-adbc-11f1-a655-3497f65b111b)

high Nessus Plugin ID 344817

Language:

Synopsis

The remote FreeBSD host is missing one or more security-related updates.

Description

The version of FreeBSD installed on the remote host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the fcc6baaa-adbc-11f1-a655-3497f65b111b advisory.

The immich project reports:
The /maintenance endpoint fails to validate the continue URL parameter. When maintenance mode is disabled, which is the default, the application accepts unvalidated redirect targets, enabling both open redirects and reflected cross-site scripting.
An unauthenticated user can craft a malicious link leading to account takeover, including administrative accounts, through same-origin API requests with credentials.

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the FreeBSD security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages.
