FreeBSD : Apache HttpClient -- misinterpret malformed authority component (fa0c03dd-7c3a-11f1-8dc2-dca632daf43b)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 326309

Synopsis

The remote FreeBSD host is missing one or more security-related updates.

Description

The version of FreeBSD installed on the remote host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the fa0c03dd-7c3a-11f1-8dc2-dca632daf43b advisory.

Apache Software Foundation reports:
Apache HttpClient versions prior to version 4.5.13 and 5.0.3 can misinterpret malformed authority component in request URIs passed to the library as java.net.URI object and pick the wrong target host for request execution.

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the FreeBSD security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages.
