Synopsis

The remote openSUSE host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote openSUSE 16 host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the openSUSE- SU-2026:20952-1 advisory.

 This update for python-python-dotenv fixes the following issue:

 - CVE-2026-28684: Prior to version 1.2.2, `set_key()` and `unset_key()` in python-dotenv follow symbolic links when rewriting `.env` files, allowing a local attacker to overwrite arbitrary files via a crafted symlink (bsc#1262423).

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the SUSE security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected python313-python-dotenv package.
