Synopsis

The remote FreeBSD host is missing one or more security-related updates.

Description

The version of FreeBSD installed on the remote host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the 37ab0cbc-54b7-11f1-8d7a-bc241121aa0a advisory.

In the case of the cap_net service, when a key present in the old limit was omitted from the new limit, the missing key was treated as allow any instead of being rejected.
In certain scenarios, an application that had previously restricted a subset of network operations could ask for a new limit that extended the permissions of the process.

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the FreeBSD security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages.
