Fortinet FortiAnalyzer DoS due to unsafe function in signal handler (FG-IR-26-137)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 314326

Synopsis

Fortinet Firewall is missing one or more security-related updates.

Description

The version of FortiAnalyzer installed on the remote host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the FG-IR-26-137 advisory.

- A use of potentially Dangerous Function vulnerability [CWE-676] in FortiAnalyzer and FortiManager API may allow an authenticated attacker to cause a system hang via multiple specially crafted HTTP requests causing crashes. This happens if internal locks are aligned, which is out of control of the attacker.
(CVE-2025-67604)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

For 7.2.x, see vendor advisory. For 7.4.x, upgrade to FortiAnalyzer version 7.4.9 or later. For 7.6.x, upgrade to FortiAnalyzer version 7.6.5 or later.
