Synopsis

The remote FreeBSD host is missing one or more security-related updates.

Description

The version of FreeBSD installed on the remote host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the f528ea29-4434-11f1-bb07-bc241121aa0a advisory.

 An operator precedence bug in the kernel results in a scenario where a buffer overflow causes attacker-controlled data to overwrite adjacent execve(2) argument buffers.
 The bug may be exploitable by an unprivileged user to obtain superuser privileges.

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the FreeBSD security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages.
