Synopsis

The remote SUSE host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote SUSE Linux SLED15 / SLED_SAP15 / SLES15 / SLES_SAP15 / openSUSE 15 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the SUSE-SU-2026:1356-1 advisory.

 This update for nfs-utils fixes the following issue:

 Security fixes:

 - CVE-2025-12801: rpc.mountd allows a NFSv3 client to escalate their privileges and access subdirectories and subtrees of an exported directory (bsc#1259204).

 Other fixes:

 - Split from nfs-utils into its own spec and changelog file (bsc#1246505).
 - Split legacy libnfsidmap0 into a separate spec file (bsc#1246505).

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the SUSE security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages.
