Synopsis

The remote RockyLinux host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote RockyLinux 8 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the RLSA-2026:6470 advisory.

 * perl-YAML-Syck: YAML::Syck versions through 1.36 for Perl has several potential security vulnerabilities including a high-severity heap buffer overflow in the YAML emitter (CVE-2026-4177)

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the RockyLinux security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected perl-YAML-Syck, perl-YAML-Syck-debuginfo and / or perl-YAML-Syck-debugsource packages.
