Synopsis

The remote openSUSE host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote openSUSE 16 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the openSUSE- SU-2026:20075-1 advisory.

 - CVE-2025-11961: missing validation of provided MAC-48 address string in `pcap_ether_aton()` can lead to out-of-bounds read and write (bsc#1255765).

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected libpcap-devel, libpcap-devel-static and / or libpcap1 packages.
