medium Nessus Plugin ID 282453

Language:

Synopsis

The remote FreeBSD host is missing one or more security-related updates.

Description

The version of FreeBSD installed on the remote host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the 583b63f5-ebae-11f0-939f-47e3830276dd advisory.

Libsodium maintainer reports:
The function crypto_core_ed25519_is_valid_point(), a low-level function used to check if a given elliptic curve point is valid, was supposed to reject points that aren't in the main cryptographic group, but some points were slipping through.

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the FreeBSD security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages.
