FreeBSD : Mozilla -- XSS in sites without content-type header (4355ce42-ad06-11f0-b2aa-b42e991fc52e)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 270777

Language:

Synopsis

The remote FreeBSD host is missing one or more security-related updates.

Description

The version of FreeBSD installed on the remote host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the 4355ce42-ad06-11f0-b2aa-b42e991fc52e advisory.

[email protected] reports:
A malicious page could have used the type attribute of an OBJECT tag to override the default browser behavior when encountering a web resource served without a content-type. This could have contributed to an XSS on a site that unsafely serves files without a content-type header.

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the FreeBSD security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages.
