Fortinet Firewall is missing one or more security-related updates.

Description

The version of Fortigate installed on the remote host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the FG-IR-24-452 advisory.

 - An Insertion of Sensitive Information into Log File vulnerability [CWE-532] in FortiOS may allow an attacker with at least read-only privileges to retrieve sensitive 2FA-related information via observing logs or via diagnose command. (CVE-2025-31514)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

For 6.4.x / 7.0.x / 7.2.x / 7.4.x, see vendor advisory. For 7.6.x, upgrade to Fortigate version 7.6.4 or later.
