Synopsis

A web browser installed on the remote macOS or Mac OS X host is affected by multiple vulnerabilities.

Description

The version of Firefox ESR installed on the remote macOS or Mac OS X host is prior to 115.29. It is, therefore, affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the mfsa2025-82 advisory.

 - Memory safety bugs present in Firefox ESR 115.28, Firefox ESR 140.3, Thunderbird ESR 140.3, Firefox 143 and Thunderbird 143. Some of these bugs showed evidence of memory corruption and we presume that with enough effort some of these could have been exploited to run arbitrary code. (CVE-2025-11714)

 - A compromised web process was able to trigger out of bounds reads and writes in a more privileged process using manipulated WebGL textures. (CVE-2025-11709)

 - A compromised web process using malicious IPC messages could have caused the privileged browser process to reveal blocks of its memory to the compromised process. (CVE-2025-11710)

 - There was a way to change the value of JavaScript Object properties that were supposed to be non- writeable. (CVE-2025-11711)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Mozilla Firefox ESR version 115.29 or later.
