Synopsis

The remote NewStart CGSL host is affected by multiple vulnerabilities.

Description

The remote NewStart CGSL host, running version MAIN 7.02, has libXpm packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities:

- A vulnerability was found in libXpm where a vulnerability exists due to a boundary condition, a local user can trigger an out-of-bounds read error and read contents of memory on the system. (CVE-2023-43789)

- A vulnerability was found in libXpm due to a boundary condition within the XpmCreateXpmImageFromBuffer() function. This flaw allows a local attacker to trigger an out-of-bounds read error and read the contents of memory on the system. (CVE-2023-43788)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade the vulnerable CGSL libXpm packages. Note that updated packages may not be available yet. Please contact ZTE for more information.
