Synopsis

Fortinet Firewall is missing one or more security-related updates.

Description

The version of Fortigate installed on the remote host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the FG-IR-24-385 advisory.

- AnAuthentication Bypass Using an Alternate Path or Channel vulnerability [CWE-288] in FortiOS and FortiProxymay allow an authenticated attacker to elevate their privileges via triggering a malicious Webhook action in the Automation Stitch component. (CVE-2025-22862)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

For 7.0.x / 7.2.x, see vendor advisory. For 7.4.x, upgrade to Fortigate version 7.4.8 or later.
