NewStart CGSL MAIN 7.02 : libmicrohttpd Vulnerability (NS-SA-2025-0091)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 237994

Synopsis

The remote NewStart CGSL host is affected by a vulnerability.

Description

The remote NewStart CGSL host, running version MAIN 7.02, has libmicrohttpd packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability:

- GNU libmicrohttpd before 0.9.76 allows remote DoS (Denial of Service) due to improper parsing of a multipart/form-data boundary in the postprocessor.c MHD_create_post_processor() method. This allows an attacker to remotely send a malicious HTTP POST packet that includes one or more '\0' bytes in a multipart/form-data boundary field, which - assuming a specific heap layout - will result in an out-of- bounds read and a crash in the find_boundary() function. (CVE-2023-27371)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade the vulnerable CGSL libmicrohttpd packages. Note that updated packages may not be available yet. Please contact ZTE for more information.
