medium Nessus Plugin ID 190340

Language:

Synopsis

The remote SUSE host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote SUSE Linux SLES12 / SLES_SAP12 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the SUSE-SU-2024:0434-1 advisory.

- tiffttopnm in netpbm 10.47.63 does not properly use the libtiff TIFFRGBAImageGet function, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds read and write) via a crafted tiff image file, related to transposing width and height values. (CVE-2017-5849)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected libnetpbm-devel, libnetpbm11, libnetpbm11-32bit and / or netpbm packages.
