Apache CouchDB < 3.3.3 Privilege Escalation

medium Nessus Plugin ID 186916

Synopsis

The remote database server is affected by a privilege escalation vulnerability.

Description

According to its banner, the version of CouchDB running on the remote host is prior to 3.3.3. It is, therefore, affected by a privilege escalation vulnerability:

- Design document functions which receive a user http request object may expose authorization or session cookie headers of the user who accesses the document. (CVE-2023-45725)

Note that Nessus did not actually test for these flaws but instead, has relied on the version in CouchDB's banner.

Solution

Upgrade to CouchDB 3.3.3 or later.
