Synopsis

The remote Red Hat host is missing one or more security updates for runc.

Description

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 9 host has a package installed that is affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the RHSA-2023:7763 advisory.

- golang: crypto/tls: slow verification of certificate chains containing large RSA keys (CVE-2023-29409)

- golang: crypto/tls: panic when processing post-handshake message on QUIC connections (CVE-2023-39321)

- golang: crypto/tls: lack of a limit on buffered post-handshake (CVE-2023-39322)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the RHEL runc package based on the guidance in RHSA-2023:7763.
